For this shot the client requested a traditional mine set into a valley. MACDYNE created a fully detailed 3D replica of a real mine using over several hundred digital stills for reference. Early shots required a close up track and jib of the building, but were later scraped. The mine was textured and lit using state of the art HDRI (high Dynamic Range Images) to mimic the ‘On the day’ lighting conditions. It was then composited into the scene, were it was graded and digital smoke added.
